Drench resistance

Resistance has been detected in both roundworm and fluke populations and is suspected to be common and widespread across Australia. Resistant worms survive drenching and continue to produce eggs, so that larvae of the resistant strain further contaminate pastures. As chemical actives become ineffective at killing worms, the economic costs of disease occurrence and lost animal production, as well as the wasted labour will increase.
